...."When I first met Eddie years ago, I stopped by because I was watching him restore a '69 GTX. The job he did on the whole car was nothing less than astonishing. Perfectly straight body work. Perfect paint, but all of that was nothing compared to his engine work. I started coming around to see him on a daily basis to observe him being a very focused person. When he builds these Hemi engines he is nothing short of a perfectionist. The way he measures all the components for proper fit, over and over, is more than I have found at even the best machine shops.  Nothing less than perfect was ever acceptable. It is nothing that I have ever seen in my 60 years in the automotive industry. Yet, this guy does not do this for a living. It is his passion. Every engine fires right up within 2 turns and never has an issue. He knows all the latest  technology in assembly techniques. I had him build my 455 Olds engine because I knew he was qualified and I knew it would be right and I would not hesitate to have him build another one for me....

...."A decision was made. A 56' -354 Hemi, tri-5 heads, with 3x2 carbs built on the order of a 50'/60's resto-rod look, would be perfect! A 400-450Hp, 10:1 compression, lots of torque, controllable, reliable everyday driver Hemi was the target. All of the internal components were going to be the best in the available, built with exacting detail and precision by an experienced builder.

It didn't matter where the Hemi would be shipped to be built, but the builder had to be top-notch! Over time, Mike Chrisman, Junior Thompson, Dick Landy, Eddie Haines and Gene Adams were some of the builders contacted. I wanted a builder with experience, workmanship, exactness to detail, dedication, and pride to build the Hemi. Eddie Haines filled these pre-requisites and excepted the Hemi project.

Eddie's resourses, contacts and experience handled the issues with expedient success! His exactness to details was amazing! He would check and re-check clearances, specifications and tolerances of the original components, machine shop work, and all new installed parts. He documented everything as found originally found and as left after assembly.

The engine assembly went well. I received a phone call from Eddie, and we made the trip to Florida to witness the Hemi engine start-up. The Hemi started and ran flawlessly!! I am the proud owner of a "Hemihaines" built engine.

Oh, I received digital pictures of the Hemi being assembled, A copy of the engines clearances,specifications, tolerances and a video of the break-in.

...."When I started this project I thought I had an almost running motor that just needed some going over. In the same day that I graduated from college, my wife and I drove back from Orlando with the Hemi in the back of my truck,to Eddies house. The initial look revealed catastrophic results. The engine had been left out in the weather, had bad water damage, and poor machining from the previous owner. Needless to say, I thought that my dreams of having a Hemi were out the door.

Eddie calmed me down and even offered to look further into the engine to give a better diagnosis on the spot, mind you this was a Saturday night, and we were there until 10pm. Eddie and his wife were extremely courteous and welcoming even on our first meeting. I was delighted with how pleasant the service and how knowledgeable Eddie was about the Hemi history. Once the parts list were set, the machining took place shortly after,and from then on, it was a great surprise every week with emails showing the progress of my Hemi. Eddie went throught great lengths to help me, not only buying the right parts, but also understanding every process of the build. The day we fired the engine, it was a surreal experience. After seeing the transition, from a dead rusty motor to a Fire Power breathing Blown 331 Hemi monster!

Overall,the building of my Hemi, was a wonderful learning experience. It not only furthered my knowledge on Hemi's and how they function,but I also made a great friend"....
